As Valentines Day approaches, we see more and more heart jewelry advertised. My guess, they’re trying to create a need for expensive Valentine’s jewelry so that the girlies will want it and the guys will therefore have to buy it. It is a tricky system, but nevertheless has continued to work for decades. I’m guilty, I own some pretty amazing heart jewelry that I wear almost as often as I get dressed. Despite the Hallmark atmosphere of this holiday I am definitely a firm believer in jewelry as gifts and there are some pretty fun pieces of Valentine’s Day jewelry that people shouldn’t have to live without.

For instance, I’m sure we’re all hoping we get a little blue box on the special day, after all it’s everything a girl should wish for. It’s definitely the best of the best when it comes to Valentine’s Day jewelry and they know it as displayed in their tagline of “Nothing gets to the heart of the matter like a gift from Tiffany.” Personally, my favorite is the heart collection designed by Elsa Peretti. It’s just the classic and simple heart cutout pendant that is signature Tiffany. But there’s something to be said about the classics.

If you’re looking for some more fun not-so-serious heart jewelry Juicy Couture has some fun Valentine’s Day treats. The Sweet Shoppe charm bracelet is a treat in itself with it’s cute Sweetheart candy inspired charms with messages written on the hearts. It definitely screams Valentines Day, but I bet with some outfit coordination you could pull it off year round. I have to admit, I’m also sucked in by the cute, pink heart boxes that everything comes in

Looking for something glitzy and stunning? I really liked this white gold and diamond heart pendant from Zales, it’s sure to take a girls breath away. I think what appealed to me most was that the diamonds only wrap around part of the heart because it is different from your typical diamond studded heart pendant. It definitely captures the spirit of Valentine’s Day mixed with the fact that diamonds are a girls best friend!

Pink is my new color, it might be a phase, but I’ll take it.
Pink also happens to be the new spring “it” color…but when does pink actually go out of style I guess this time of year is definitely the time to start getting into pink because of the well known holiday we all love and despise at the same time. So I’ve decided the best way to beat the valentine’s day blues is shopping for pink things!!

These shoes for instance, they would knock the blues right out of me. There’s just something about pink that puts a spring in my step (no pun intended.) The Kate Spade pair (left) would be so cute with a springy white lace sundress and pink cardigan and the Miss Sixty hot pink pumps (right) would add a spark to the slinky little black dress in the back of your closet that has been dying to be worn all winter!

Accessories wise, these win. The Alexis Bittar bracelets (left) are a must have (and the pink one is super cute.) They are made from lucite resin and are the lightest chunky jewelry you will ever own. The Betsey Johnson scarf (right) will definitely jazz up your typical black peacoat (and the Miss Sixty pumps will match PERFECT!) Why not be warm in style?

Pretty much I’m in love. These pink dresses are brilliant. The ABS Allen Schwartz dress (right) really pops with the bright pink and the shiny satin fabric. You will definitely make an impression, whether out for a romantic Valentine’s day dinner or a wild night out. The BCBG stunner (left) is adorable. I love that it’s not one of the typical pinks you see in fashion everywhere. It’s a little more subdued and very elegant. Love it.

The Salvatore Ferragamo tote (right) is a great bag for carrying books to class (in my case) or as an everyday purse when you want to make a statement…or show off your electric personality. The Coach umbrella (left) is perfect for a rainy day, with the grey sky and depressing atmosphere, a little pink is what everybody needs

If there’s one thing everyone remembers about their trips to Seattle it’s a combination between the Starbucks on every corner and the torrential downpour that happens almost every day. So obviously one needs to equip themselves with appropriate clothing to suit the weather! Luckily for every one of us, designers seem to have anticipated even the stormiest weather in their lines

These boots will definitely keep the rain out, while still making a statement. I love that they’re simple but striking. A lot of the Burberry collection is that way with their signature looks that never go out of style.

I would have to say these are my favorite, actually Coach everything is my favorite. I love the springy colors, especially the hot pink, and the plaid. I think they nailed the idea of rain boots, because these remind me of sunshine which is exactly what I want to be thinking about on a rainy day in Seattle!

These boots are Sperry Topsider, so you can basically guarantee they are the most comfortable thing you will ever wear. Not to mention that plaid is always a winner, it always gives you a variety of colors to match with it and makes your dreary rain day outfit fun and colorful. Why should you have to look depressed on a rainy day? Just add a little color..and a little spring in your step.

There is something to be said about staying classy, and if there is one thing I want people to remember about my personal style it is exactly that. In fact, as I get older, I find that i start holding up my fashion sense against the “classic” ideals because I want to start gravitating in that direction. It’s nice to see that designers that have been around for a while are still alive and kicking, and the new collections that they just launched are no exception to their original rules about staying fabulous.

These PRADA pumps provide a new twist to the classic black shoe. With their cute peep toe and elegant black bow they give choices when usually, you’re faced with an ordinary black pump. Not to mention how cute they would be with that little black dress OR some dark washed denim!

These Gucci boots are to DIE for. I love the gold accents and the peep toe, it really spices up the normal heeled ankle boot trend. Not to mention the extremely high stiletto heel. Honestly, I’ve always overlooked Gucci shoes because they’ve always screamed “too old for me” with their classic, sleek style. But now with their new edgy but classy updates I’m dying to own a pair and equally dying to purchase a scandalous black dress to wear them with.

Two-tone is yet another one of my favorite ways to spruce up a pair of shoes. These Gucci patent pumps are adorable and while still having the sleek classic pump silhouette the white patent adds a bit of flair to create a totally new feeling and look. I guess Gucci is my new favorite when it comes to classy shoes! I feel like at this stage in my life I can start to graduate from BP to designer (but I’m not going to lie, BP shoes will probably always be a part of my closet, I’m HORRIBLE at getting rid of things!)

No matter what, stay classy, it’s the best thing you could possibly do for yourself.

Environmental issues are something everyone should be thinking about, at least in the back of their mind, when supporting fashion. I’m not exactly talking about canning all of your favorite brands because they’re not vegan, but I am saying know where your clothes come from. Going green is a serious trend in designers today and seems to be growing stronger, which is why there are so many options out there for the environmentally conscious fashionista (and the choices are getting more and more spectacular as more and more people become involved.)

THIS IS SO CUTE! I don’t think I can survive another summer without it! It was honestly love at first sight. The designer is Bahar Shapar, its made with silk that was harvested without pesticides, the lining is unbleached cotton and all of jacquard trimmings are vintage taken from other garments. Its basically flawless and a vision in organic products.

Another soon-to-be piece of my wardrobe is this adorable springy dress. It’s airy, elegant and crazy cute, perfect for the warm spring weather. It’s also worth the extra money because it’s not only organic but it can be work day to night, throw on a jean jacket for the casual afternoon picnic and take it off and add some edgy heels for a totally chic evening outfit. Peruvian designer Vanessa Barrantes uses organic fibers like bamboo to make her collection really shine. Check out some more of her dresses HERE

Basically, going green isn’t about recycling a potato sack into a dress, its definitely so much more than that. For once, its possible to be environmentally conscious and be obsessed with fashion as well, so we should take advantage of this opportunity to express our beliefs and morals through our fashion sense.

My new obsession: Betsey Johnson everything.

I’m obsessed with her obsession with bows…everything with bows. I guess it’s the new “it” style because I’ve seen them everywhere. I actually almost picked up a Kate Spade clutch at Nordstrom a few weeks ago, it was metallic with a bow taking up the entire front, it basically took all my willpower not to purchase (especially because it was on super sale and we all know how that is!)

As for Betsey, she is so creative! I love so much of her stuff because it’s so different from anything else you see out there in the world. I think the cute applique and accessories is what makes her, for instance this totally cute dress (the flower definitely makes it).

This dress is something you could wear to a wedding, or a night out when you want to get dressed up. I feel like it’s the kind of dress you make up reasons to wear, especially with slingback red shoes that every girl should have in her closet!

Back to my obsession with bows; I was shopping with a friend at Nordstrom last weekend when I spotted these bow earrings and fell in love. See, it was kind of a shock for me because I’m not usually the big flashy jewelry kind of girl. But these seemed different, they are glitzy but at the same time elegant. I like them so much that I want the matching necklace too!

The moral of todays story: don’t be afraid to be fashion forward, you might even surprise yourself how well it fits you <3

So I’ve heard a rumor that Juicy Couture is on the outs…but I am definitely a follower of the “stick with what you like” trend as well as trying keep up with the fast paced fashion world. See, I’m not sure how it can go completely “out” because some of the signature items will always be in style, the velor tracksuit for instance. That jacket and pants pair is what made them. Granted I totally understand that some of the stuff is totally over the top, and I steer clear of those but as for the more simple and elegant things…they’re my best friends

I still have my favorites, I landed some really cute Juicy jewelry for Christmas. The bracelet is really supposed to be a starter for the incredibly large and flashy charms (not my thing) but by itself, it’s a great accessory.

This dress is at the very tip top of my must-haves list. It’s so simple (unfortunately very pricey) and I’m simply in love with it… There’s just something about sequins that draws me in. I loved that that was the new “it” thing this season. That and loose trapeze dresses (flattering on everybody makes a great trend.)

I LOVE these earrings. I seriously wear them all the time…I decided pink was my new color…but it was a close call between the pink or the black (the silver were cute too) no matter what color you’re looking for they’re a little piece of bling that completes your outfit. There’s something to be said about wearing studs, there is no way you can overdo an outfit with them.

I’m over the overdone, heavily embellished Juicy Couture and turned my sights toward the simple accents and awesome brights that came out with this seasons line. As for the Critter Couture line…I guess if I had a cute enough dog I might consider it.

The newest addition to the eternal list of things I must buy in this lifetime (hopefully closer to the now portion of my life) are these ADORABLE BCBGirls flats that I fell in love with this weekend.  They look like they would go with anything from a casual coffee outing to a chic leggings and mini-dress getup for dinner with the girls.

Anyway…people have to have shoes right?  So I figure they might as well be stylish…and these metallic cuties must be the new in thing because I found the slightly modified version for hald the price at Target by their new designer Loeffler Randall.  They look pretty similar to the real thing and they’re definitely just as cute ..you be the judge:

Whichever way you decide to go, I support you wholeheartedly…as I suspect one of these pairs will be in my closet before too long.  I think shoes are something that you can never have too many of…because they will always match some outfit you’ll have in the back of your closet

Same as every year, this one started off with a bang. For the last five years I’ve welcomed the new year the same way as all the other fashionistas on Orcas Island do; by heading to the famous Tres Fabu New Year’s Day Sale. It’s by far one of my favorite places in the world because it’s a world of chic hidden behind the facade of a white picket fence.

The sale is 50% off of everything. You know it’s going to be a good year when you start off with couture. All of the clothes and accessories are high profile and hand picked by the owner from all over the world. I definitely picked up a pair of vintage inspired, very Audrey, black wool gloves. It makes for a good new years day…that’s for sure. So if you’re ever in the area, you absolutely must check it out.
